my CV (pdf) | my publications on ADS
I'm an observational astronomer and Fellow in the Directorate for Science at the European Southern Observatory (ESO) near Munich. I recently finished my Ph.D. in Astrophysics with Chris O'Dea and Stefi Baum at the Rochester Institute of Technology. Prior to that, I was at the Space Telescope Science Institute, the Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Rochester.

I work on active galactic nucleus (AGN) feedback and its role in (1) mediating the coupled evolution of a central black hole and its host galaxy stellar component; and (2) balancing runaway radiative cooling, inhibiting star formation, and excavating buoyant X-ray cavities in "cool core" clusters of galaxies. I also work on triggering, star formation, and observational dichotomies in powerful radio galaxies, framed in the context of unification schemes, jet propagation, and accretion modes. My Ph.D. thesis can be found here. I am/have been funded by NASA grants stemming from the Hubble Space Telescope, Herschel Space Observatory, Chandra X-Ray Observatory, and Spitzer Space Telescope missions. I am also grateful for partial support from the European Community's Seventh Framework Programme (/FP7/2007-2013/ No. 229517).

(a) Hubble Space Telescope (HST, optical), Chandra X-Ray Observatory (CXO, X-ray), and Very Large Array (VLA, radio) composite of the radio galaxy 3C 84 in the Perseus cluster of galaxies, a canonical example of radio-mode AGN feedback subsonically excavating buoyant bubbles and cavities in its surrounding hot intracluster gas.
(b) CXO and VLA composite of the radio galaxy 3C 75, famous for its binary black hole system and entangled upper radio jets.
(c) X-ray, sub-mm, and optical composite of the massive nearby radio galaxy Centaurus A (CXO, APEX, ESO 2.2m).
