  In charge of the site survey for the ESO E-ELT project in the class of the Extremely Large Telescopes (ELT). Detailed analysis of the vertical profile of the turbulence in the atmosphere for adaptive optics applications (GLAO, MCAO)[04c]. Analysis of climate change and its consequences on astronomical observing from the ground on continental sites[05a] and on Antarctica [06b].
  

  1995-2003

  Applied Physicist in the Office of the VLT Program Scientist, in charge of monitoring and forecasting astronomical observing conditions at ESO Observatories:
  -Current projects: Development of a Geographical Information System (GIS) for the site evaluation of future ground-based astronomical facilities [00i]. Study (contracts management) of climate variability and change at ground based astronomical observatories in Chile (Pr. M. Beniston, Univ. of Fribourg, Ch). Implementation of a prototype forecast model based on neural networks (Univ. Clermont-Ferrant, F) [00h].
  -Development (contracts management) of a method based on satellite imagery and global model products for cloud and water vapour forecasts in desertic coastal areas. Design and implementation of an automated data assimilation process combining GOES geostationary satellite images (provider: CIRA, Co, USA) and ECMWF dissemination products [00f]. Verification of the forecasting skills for cloud cover, water vapor and for Kalman filtered local meteorology. Implementation of an early warning weather-watch service for astronomical operations.
