Rays forming the CZA have nearly the same direction, only the half degree size of the sun causes some divergence. This combined with the usually good alignment of the horizontal plate crystals produces very pure colors. The colors of a CZA are purer than those of the rainbow. Try more levels (32 to 256) and several million rays to produce smooth and intense CZAs.
