Shaping ESO2020+ Together

ESO2020 Poll

ESO's Science Prioritisation Working Group has been tasked with reviewing the ESO programme from a scientific perspective. To tension the current and planned programme against new possibilities, the Working Group is organising a conference (ESO in the 2020s, 19-22 January 2015).

The Working Group is also launching this poll, aiming to present preliminary results at the conference to provide context and to stimulate debate. You are receiving this message because you are registered either on the ESO User Portal and/or on the ALMA Science Portal.

We would like you to share with us your scientific priorities. In so doing, you will be helping to shape ESO in the 2020s and beyond.  The results of the poll will be a key element in the discussion on ESO’s future priorities within the ESO Science Prioritisation Working Group.

The survey is anonymous, but you have the possibility to identify yourself, should you wish to be contacted with the results of the poll. It consists of 19 questions, mostly multiple choices. It is grouped in four main sections:

  1. Tell us about yourself and your scientific interests (7 questions)
  2. Present and future observing facilities (5 questions)
  3. Time scheduling and observing modes (2 questions)
  4. Data management and services (5 questions)

Free-text boxes are available in each section; they are optional, in case you would like to provide more feedback. The survey should take approximately 10-15 minutes to fill out, without the extra written feedback.

There are 39 questions in this survey.
