Die ESO auf dem Big Science Business Forum 2020

Das Big Science Business Forum 2020 (BSBF2020) ist die zweite Veranstaltung dieser Art, die als zentrale Anlaufstelle gedacht ist, bei der sich europäische Unternehmen und andere Interessenvertreter über künftige Investitionen und Beschaffungen seitens der europäischen Big Science Organisationen informieren können. Die Veranstaltung wird von einem internationalen Organisationskomitee ausgerichtet, das aus 10 großen Wissenschaftsorganisationen besteht, darunter auch die ESO. Gastgeber der Veranstaltung sind das Zentrum für die Entwicklung von Industrietechnologie (CDTI), Ministerium für Wissenschaft, Innovation und Universitäten sowie das CIEMAT – Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas. Sie findet vom 6. bis 9. Oktober 2020 in Granada, Spanien, statt.
Der Begriff Big Science fasst die Art und Weise zusammen, in der der wissenschaftliche Fortschritt zunehmend von Großprojekten abhängt, die oft von nationalen Regierungen oder Gruppen von Regierungen finanziert werden und zu einer zunehmend kooperativen Forschung und globalen, wissenschaftlichen Projekten führen. Er stützt sich auf große und kleine Unternehmen aus der ganzen Welt, in Bereichen wie Kryogenik, Supraleiter, Materialien und Elektronik – sowie auf bahnbrechende astronomische Technologien.
Es werden 1000 Teilnehmer erwartet, hauptsächlich aus europäischen Unternehmen und Organisationen, die sich auf dem Big Science-Markt engagieren wollen. Spezielle Sitzungen, Einzelgespräche und eine Ausstellung werden den Teilnehmern folgende Möglichkeiten geben:
- Informieren Sie sich über Geschäftsmöglichkeiten in den kommenden Jahren in einer Vielzahl von Geschäftsbereichen.
- Treffen Sie Vertreter der europäischen Big Science-Organisationen und ihrer wichtigsten Lieferanten.
- Nehmen Sie an Diskussionen über die Chancen und Herausforderungen des Big Science Marktes teil.
- Knüpfen Sie Netzwerke und Partnerschaften über Business-to-Business-Treffen, Business-to-Customer-Treffen und im offenen Ausstellungsbereich.
- Erhalten Sie einen Einblick in Beschaffungsregeln, Rechte an geistigem Eigentum, Technologietransfer und wie Unternehmen mit dem Markt der Big Science interagieren können.
- Sehen Sie detaillierte Präsentationen über zukünftige Beschaffungen.
Die ESO ist ein prominentes Beispiel für die Big Science. Sie ist Partner des Atacama Large Millimeter/Submillimeter Array (ALMA), der weltweit größten bodengestützten Einrichtung für Beobachtungen im Millimeter/Submillimeter-Bereich. Das Flaggschiff der ESO, das Very Large Telescope (VLT), ist das weltweit modernste astronomische Observatorium für sichtbares Licht und das derzeit im Bau befindliche Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) der ESO ist auf dem Weg, das größte Auge der Welt am Himmel zu werden.
Referenten der ESO werden insgesamt 9 Vorträge auf der BSBF2020 halten, darunter eine Keynote von Xavier Barcons, dem Generaldirektor der ESO.
Die folgenden Organisationen sind Mitglieder des Internationalen Organisationskomitees und waren an der Gründung des Forums beteiligt: European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL), European Space Agency (ESA), European Southern Observatory (ESO), European Spallation Source (ESS), European Synchrotron Radiation Facility (ESRF), European X-Ray Free Electron Laser Facility (European XFEL), Facility for Antriproton and Ion Research in Europe (FAIR), Fusion for Energy (F4E), Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) and the Square Kilometre Array (SKA).
