Nový snímek mlhoviny M 17 – oblasti s probíhající tvorbou hvězd – byl pořízen pomocí kamery WFI (Wide Field Imager) a dalekohledu MPG/ESO, který pracuje na observatoří La Silla v Chile. Jedná se o jeden z nejdetailnějších záběrů celé mlhoviny, který odhaluje nejen její celkovou velikost, ale zobrazuje také podrobnosti pestré kosmické krajiny plynu, prachu a nově vzniklých hvězd.
