A peek inside the ELT dome

This drone image from June 2024 shows progress in the construction of ESO's Extremely Large Telescope (ELT), located on Cerro Armazones in the Atacama Desert, Chile. The white lattice structure under construction is a support structure that will eventually hold the ELT's primary mirror, M1. Notice the cranes and vehicles at the bottom, which show off just how enormous the ELT is!
