A Very Large backdrop
The public enjoy exploring the central foyer at the Garching Headquarters at the ESO 2017 Open House Day that was held on Saturday 21 October. Whilst ESO's telescopes are based far away in the Chilean desert, the core hub of ESO staff, students, outreach and research is based in Garching, Germany. A panorama of the Very Large Telescope (VLT) is displayed across the wall.
