A stop to enjoy the Chilean sky

Amazed by the colourful Milky Way, the ESO Photo Ambassador Petr Horálek takes a stop while driving in the Atacama desert, in northern Chile, to fully enjoy the night sky view. Many are the remarkable features in this fulldome panorama image: the brightest spot in the upper left is the planet Jupiter, while the red blobs along the Milky Way river are Barnard's loop on the upper part with the famous Orion's Belt at the centre —, and Gum Nebula in the middle, respectively. The elegant Large Magellanic Cloud is also faintly visible, in the lower right part. A greenish airglow frames the sky all around.
