Close encounters of the telescope kind

The antennae of the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) are seen here moved into closer proximity to each other in a setup known as the Compact Array. The Chajnator Plateau in northern Chile is the home to these impressive telescopes.
