Laser glow

One of the neighbouring unit telescopes of the VLT reflects the red glow of the laser being sent into the sky by Unit Telescope 4 (Yepun). The laser creates a guide star, which is part of the adaptive optics system installed at the VLT, state-of-the-art technology that corrects the blurring effects of the Earth's atmosphere to create high-resolution images.
