Four Japanese antennas for ALMA

Three 12-metre and one 7-metre MELCO antennas at the Japanese assembly facility, near the main ALMA Operations Support Facility (OSF), located at 2900m altitude on the road to the Chajnantor plateau. ALMA is a single telescope of revolutionary design, composed of a main array of fifty 12-metre antennas and an additional compact array of four 12-metre and twelve 7-metre antennas. ALMA is currently under construction on the Chajnantor plateau, at an elevation of 5000m, in the Chilean Andes.
