Adaptive optics comparison
This illustration demonstrates how a global cluster appears with and without the use of adaptive optics. Astronomical ground-based telescopes built today rely strongly on adaptive optics to achieve their maximum resolution and sensitivity. Adaptive optics technologically compensates for changes in the Earth’s atmosphere to produce a sharper image.
