Auxiliary Telescopes at the VLT

This is a close view on one of the Auxiliary Telescopes (ATs) at the VLT. The size of the mirror of the AT is 1.8m. Another AT is visible in the back. Both the ATs the larger 8.2m unit telescopes (UTs) can be combined for interferometric observations. This picture was obtained in March 2009.
