The best is yet to come

This image shows the newly flattened Cerro Armazones site, which engineers levelled with in a series of blasts in June 2014. They aimed to remove a total of 220 000 cubic metres of rock for the 300 x 150 metres platform, in preparation of the construction of the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT).
