The ESO 3.6-metre telescope at La Silla at night

Nighttime view of ESO's 3.6-metre telescope performing its duties at ESO's La Silla observation site. La Silla, 2400 metres above sea level in the southern part of the Atacama desert of Chile, was ESO's first observation site. Telescopes there include the ESO 3.6-metre telescope and the 3.58-metre New Technology Telescope (NTT). La Silla also hosts many national telescopes, including the Swiss 1.2-metre Leonhard Euler Telescope and the Danish 1.54-metre telescope.
