ALMA antennas

A selection of ALMA antennas can be seen in this shot from the Chajnantor Plateau, located 5000 metres above sea level. The 66 high-precision antennas that comprise the Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA) can be arranged in many different configurations, where the maximum distance between antennas can vary from 16 kilometres to just 150 metres.
