Paranal power station

The "Multi Fuel Power Generation" system, a highly efficient turbine that can work on a variety of fuels (diesel, fuel, different types of gases) is used to produce the electric power for the Paranal Observatory. This TurboMach turbine entered in operation at the end of 2007. Paranal is so remote that the power grid does not reach it, so it relies entirely on its own power station.
