ESO en el Big Science Business Forum 2020

El Big Science Business Forum 2020 (BSBF2020) es el segundo evento que se ha realizado, y proporciona una ventanilla única donde las empresas europeas y otras partes interesadas pueden aprender sobre futuras inversiones y adquisiciones por parte de las organizaciones de Big Science de Europa. El evento es organizado por un Comité Organizador Internacional que consta de 10 organizaciones de Big Science, de las cuales ESO forma parte. El evento será organizado por el Centro para el Desarrollo Tecnológico Industrial (CDTI) del Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades y CIEMAT, Centro de Investigaciones Energéticas, Medioambientales y Tecnológicas. Se llevará a cabo del 6 al 9 de octubre de 2020 en Granada, España.
Big Science es una expresión que resume la forma en que el progreso científico depende crecientemente de proyectos a gran escala, a menudo financiados por gobiernos nacionales o grupos de gobiernos, lo que conduce a una investigación cada vez más colaborativa y a proyectos científicos globales. Se basa en empresas grandes y pequeñas de todo el mundo, en áreas que abarcan la criogenia, superconductores, materiales y electrónica, así como tecnologías astronómicas de vanguardia.
Se espera que asistan 1000 participantes, principalmente de empresas y organizaciones europeas que pretenden participar en el mercado Big Science.. Las sesiones paralelas dedicadas, reuniones individuales y una exposición brindarán a los partícipes la ocasión de:
- Conocer las oportunidades de negocios en los años venideros, en una amplia gama de áreas comerciales.
- Conocer representantes de las organizaciones de Big Science de Europa, y sus principales proveedores.
- Participar en discusiones sobre las oportunidades y desafíos que presenta el mercado Big Science.
- Establecer contactos y asociaciones a través de reuniones de empresa a empresa, reuniones entre empresas y clientes, y en una exposición abierta.
- Obtener información sobre las normas de licitaciones, derechos de propiedad intelectual, transferencia tecnológica y sobre cómo las empresas pueden interactuar con el mercado del Big Science.

ESO es un ejemplo destacado de Big Science. La Organización es socia del Atacama Large Millimeter/submillimeter Array (ALMA), la instalación terrestre de mayor envergadura que existe para observaciones en el rango milimétrico/submilimétrico. La instalación más emblemática de ESO, el Very Large Telescope (VLT) es el observatorio astronómico más avanzado del mundo en luz visible, y el Extremely Large Telescope de ESO (ELT), actualmente en etapa de construcción, será el ojo más grande del mundo para mirar el cielo.
Los expositores de ESO ofrecerán un total de 9 presentaciones en el BSBF2020, incluyendo un discurso inaugural del Director General de ESO, Xavier Barcons.
Las siguientes organizaciones forman parte del Comité Organizador Internacional y han participado en la creación del foro: La Organización Europea para la Investigación Nuclear (CERN), el Laboratorio Europeo de Biología Molecular (EMBL), la Agencia Espacial Europea (ESA), el Observatorio Europeo Austral (ESO), la Fuente de Espalación Europea (ESS), la Instalación Europea de Radiación Sincrotrónica (ESRF), la Instalación láser de electrones libres europeo (European XFEL), la Instalación europea de investigación de antiprotones e iones (FAIR), Fusion for Energy (F4E), el Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL) y el Square Kilometre Array (SKA).
