Paranal panorama
Some constituents of ESO's Very Large Telescope (VLT) are visible in this panorama of the Paranal Observatory. Unit Telescope 4 (Yepun) is pictured in the foreground sending up laser light to create an artificial guide star to help with the observations, while the majestic band of the Milky Way arcs over, demonstrating the exceptional viewing conditions at this location.
