Hyakutake's Head on March 25

This splendid photo of Comet Hyakutake's head, with lots of streamers was made by Peter Staettmayer, Director of the Munich Public Observatory (Volkssternwarte), from his private observatory in Herrsching at the Ammersee, some 30 km southwest of Munich.

The medium-field photo [GIF,360k] was made with a tele-objective 2.8/180mm on sensitized TP emulsion. The exposure time was 20 minutes on March 25, at 02:30 UT. A smaller version is also available ( [GIF,91k] ).
