La Silla under the Milky Way

The ESO 3.6-metre telescope, the oldest instrument operated by ESO at the La Silla site is clearly visible, on a hill rising above the other telescopes at the site. The Milky Way is clearly visible thanks to the lack of light pollution in the Chilean desert. Also visible in the video is a phenomenon known as airglow (see more about it on ESOcast 78).
