eclipse supports only one image format: FITS. Although including support for other image file formats would be a minor task, it is not foreseen to do so for the moment. eclipse is about number crunching for astronomy, not PhotoShop.
FITS images have uncompressed pixel data following a header expressed in pure ASCII. The following commands allow searching, parsing, printing of these values.
