Use Case: Prepare for Pupil Alignment

Description: Prepare the AT subsystems so that they are ready for the VLTI ISS to perform the VLTI Pupil Alignment. Check that sub-systems are online. Position the CBSD to the appropriate position. Switch Pupil beacon.

Secondary: Coude Beam Switching Device, Pupil Beacon,

Priority: Major

Performance: A couple of seconds (10 to 15 seconds)

Frequency: Asynchronous, typ. once a day before starting observations, or any time for maintenance/test purpose

Package Assignment: Optical Adjustments.

Preconditions:

Coude Beam switching device is switched On and ONLINE
M6 is set to the appropriate position (depends on Azimuth angle!) so that the Nasmyth Beacon image falls at the X-Y location corresponding to the "VLTI Coude pointing reference point" in the Coudé Focus
ROS shutter is open

Basic Course:

Send command PREPPALto prepare for Pupil Alignment
ATCS Sets Nasmyth Wheel to the position for the "free hole"

Exception Course:

ATCS Sets Coude Beam switching device to Set Light Stop in Coude Beam

Exception Course:

ATCS Sets Pupil Beacon Light Level

Exception Course:

ATCS switches On M2 Pupil Beacon

Exception Course:

Exception Course: Command failed

ATCS returns ERROR reply

Postconditions:

Devices in appropriate position for Pupil Alignment
ATCS ready to receive M10 tilt command from ISS
