Mezinárodnímu týmu astronomů se s pomocí dalekohledu ESO/VLT a kosmických teleskopů HST (NASA/ESA Hubble Space Telescope) a Chandra (Chandra X-ray Observatory, NASA) podařilo vyřešit záhadu podivných změn chování superhmotné černé díry, která se nachází v centru jedné vzdálené galaxie. Zdá se, že pro tuto černou díru nastaly zlé časy, nedostává se jí okolní hmoty a díky tomu její okolí zdaleka nezáří tak jasně, jako dříve.
