Planeten Neptuns atmosfæretemperaturer er fulgt igennem 17 år af et internationalt hold astronomer, og Neptuns globale temperaturer viser et overraskende fald, efterfulgt af en dramatisk opvarmning omkring planetens sydpol. Observationerne er gjort med ESOs Very Large Telescope.
