We participated on behalf of ESO at the EIROforum meeting “AI in Science” that took place on the 30th of June with representatives of the EIROforum members and of the European Commission. The meeting was organized along five themes, compute, data, AI models & algorithms, training & upskilling, and partnership & governance. For each of the topics, we collected input from different groups within ESO, including the Astronony Faculty’s working group report, for a pre-workshop questionnaire. For each theme, we will briefly summarize the input from ESO and the main take-aways from the workshop. We will then conclude with our impressions and an open discussion on the next steps and how ESO could benefit from this process for astronomical research and beyond.
