Instrument GRAVITY, na należącym do ESO teleskopie o nazwie Very Large Telescope Interferometer (VLTI), wykonał pierwsze bezpośrednie obserwacje egzoplanety przy pomocy interferometrii optycznej. Metoda ta ukazała złożoną atmosferę planety z chmurami żelazowymi i krzemianowymi kręcącymi się w burzy o skali całej planety. Zastosowana technika prezentuje wyjątkowe możliwości badania własności wielu z egzoplanet znanych obecnie.
