Korzystając z należącego do Europejskiego Obsewratorium Południowego (ESO) teleskopu VLT, astronomowie odnaleźli najbliższą względem Ziemi parę supermasywnych czarnych dziur spośród kiedykolwiek zaobserwowanych. Oba obiekty mają również znacznie mniejszą separację niż jakakolwiek inna znana para supermasywnych czarnych dziur i ostatecznie połączą się w jedną olbrzymią czarną dziurę.
