La Silla — ESO's First Observatory handout (English)
ESO’s oldest observatory site at La Silla in Chile, is still at the forefront of astronomy research. Amongst its impressive collection of instruments are the 3.5-metre New Technology Telescope – the world’s first telescope to have a computer-controlled main mirror – and the 3.6-metre telescope, which hosts the world’s foremost exoplanet-hunting instrument, called HARPS.
