QC1 database (advanced users): browse | plot

Acquisition frames are measured in order to centre and verify the target positioning on the IFUs before starting standard star or science exposures. QC processes only the last frame of an acquisition sequence because this should contain the final centering. The number of IFUs that are used during acquisition is set by the user.

There are also dedicated astrometric observations to verify and correct (if necessary) the IFU positioning. Processing of these measurements is similar to the processing of acquisitions; however, all exposures are processed in this case.

Acquisition exposure. Example frame with seven active IFUs.

QC parameters are calculated separately for each of the 24 IFUs.

Trending

The x and y centres of the targets in acquisition exposures are monitored for all 24 IFUs separately.

Scoring is not implemented.

History

No notable events happened so far.

Algorithm Acquisition exposures

Three pipeline recipes are needed, called one after the other: kmos_reconstruct, kmo_make_image, kmo_fit_profile. For each IFU, the data cube is reconstructed and collapsed into an image; a 2D profile is fitted to the source in the image and the x and y centres of the source are determined.
