NACO pipeline:
product naming scheme

List of codes for NACO pipeline products

Names of calibration and science products follow a certain naming convention. This is done to have more user friendly names rather than archive- or original-file names.

Instrument code

The first two letters of the naming scheme are 'NC' for NACO, followed by an underscore'_'.

Type of product

The type of product is coded with four letters.

TAGPRO.CATGRAW TYPEDESCRIPTION
DCAL NACO_IMG_DARK_AVG DARK dark average
DCAH NACO_IMG_DARK_HOT DARK dark, hot pixel map
DCAC NACO_IMG_DARK_COLD DARK dark, cold pixel map
DCAD NACO_IMG_DARK_DEV DARK dark, deviant pixel map
ICLF MASTER_LAMP_FLAT LIMGFLAT internal lamp flatfield, imaging
ICTF MASTER_IMG_FLAT TIMGFLAT twilight/sky flatfield, imaging
ICTB MASTER_IMG_FLAT_BADPIX TIMGFLAT twilight/sky flatfield, imaging, bad pixel map
ICTE MASTER_IMG_FLAT_ERRMAP TIMGFLAT twilight/sky flatfield, imaging, error map
ICTI MASTER_IMG_FLAT_INTERC TIMGFLAT twilight/sky flatfield, imaging, interception
ICZT ZPOINT_TABLE STDIMG standard star, imaging, map
ICZP ZPOINT STDIMG standard star, imaging
ICSR NACO_IMG_STREHL_CAL STREHL strehl ratio image
SIJO COADDED_IMG IMGJITOBJ science image combined product

Date of origin, version

The date of origin is identical to the date of the raw data measurement. It is coded as YYMMDD (e.g. 000915 for Oct 15, 2000) in case of calibration products, and as YYYY-MM-DDTHH:MM:SS (full time stamp) in case of science produtcs. The version of a file is indicated by capital letters always starting with A. There is no versioning for science products as they have unique time stamp.

Instrumental parameters

There are several instrumental parameters coded at the end of the product name:

Calibration pipeline products

Calibration products have the following scheme:

NC_<PPPP>_<YYMMDD>_<parameter_string>.<ext>

e.g. NC_DCAL_060128_0_5_S27_F_DRHS.fits

where:

Science pipeline products

Science products have the following scheme:

NC_<PPPP>_<OBS_ID>_<DATE_TIME>_<parameter_string>.<ext>

e.g. NC_SIJO_186898_2006-01-29T06:48:12_H_S13_VIS.fits

where:

Extension

2D product images contain the .fits extension. 1D data with the .tfits extension are given in fits table format. The pipeline provides in addition VLT compliant plain ASCII parameter files with the .paf extension.
