INFORMATION SPECIFIC TO SPHERE           [?]
SPHERE consists of the common path infrastructure (CPI, providing AO and coronograph) and three arms:
IRDIS (with four modes), i
IFS, and
ZIMPOL (with three modes).

The following IRDIS data types are checked:

  • IRD_SCI_CLI, classical imaging,
  • IRD_SCI_DBI, differential beam imaging,
  • IRD_SCI_DPI, dual beam polarimetric imaging and
  • IRD_SCI_LSS, long slit spectroscopy
The setup keys are:

  • the CPI neutral density filter (e.g. OPEN or ND_1.0),
  • the common broad band filter (e.g. B_H),
  • the pupil stop,
  • the dual beam filter (e.g. D_H23) and
  • the DIT.

The only one IFS data type is checked:

  • IFS_SCI, integral field spectroscopy
The setup keys for IFS are: the CPI neutral density filter (e.g. OPEN or ND_1.0), the prism (YJ or YJH) and the DIT.

The following ZIMPOL data types are checked:

  • ZPL_SCI_IMG, imaging
  • ZPL_SCI_P1, polarimetry, field stabilized (the spider rotates when observing)
  • ZPL_SCI_P2, polarimetry, pupil stabilized (the sky rotates when observing)
The setup keys for ZIMPOL are:
  • the common beam filter (INS3.OPTI2.NAME),
  • the beam1 filter (INS3.OPTI5.NAME),
  • the beam2 filter (INS3.OPTI6.NAME) and
  • the readmode.

calChecker supports fuzzy matches:
ZIMPOL observations acquired with a non-broad-band-filter setup (= any filter which is not N_R, N_I and V) is checked for having a modemeff calibration and a distortion frame with the closest in wavelength broad-band filter.

Attached science frames (DPR.CATG=SCIENCE with DPR.TYPE=OBJECT,FLUX or OBJECT,CENTER or SKY) are not checked for the completeness of calibrations.

Acquisition of long term calibrations like photometric, astrometric or polarimetric standard stars is monitored via long-term calChecker.
