  • recipe name:xsh_2dmap
  • input raw frames: WAVE_<arm> (arm = UVB/VIS), WAVE_<arm>_ON/OFF (arm = NIR)
Purpose: Updates the configuration file for the XSHOOTER physical model

Description: For each line in the arc line list a position is predicted from the configuration file (provided by xsh_predict) and various parameters (e.g. temperature). The lines are searched around these guess positions and fit by a two-dimensional Gaussian. The lines are filtered by signal-to-noise (determined at the line center). Then the appropriate parameters of the XSHOOTER physical model are varied to reproduce the observed line positions. An updated version of the configuration file (to be used by xsh_flexcomp and xsh_wavecal) is stored. In addition a wave map and a slit map are produced which allow to assign wavelength and positions along the slit without rectifying the data. Also a dispersion table is created, which is used later to determine the efficiency (xsh_respon_slit_offset and xsh_respon_slit_nod).The table below provides the parameters which may be varied with model scenario=8 as used by QC.
