Visits to the Facilities in Chile

"ESO is happy to welcome tourists, students, journalists and TV crews at its La Silla and Paranal sites, and journalists and TV crews to the ALMA site in Chile. Visits will be organised within the limited capacity available and in such a way that they do not disturb the progress of work at the sites."

Please note that all media visits require authorization in advance by the ESO education and Public Outreach Department at the ESO Headquarters in Garching, Germany. You can find guidelines for media visits here.

Public Visits to the Observatory on Cerro Paranal

Tourist and student visits to Paranal Observatory are scheduled every Saturday at 10:00 or 14:00. A dedicated web page with all relevant information about Weekend Visits to Paranal is available.

Public Visits to the Observatory on La Silla

La Silla Observatory is open for public visits every Saturday at 14:00, except in July and August. Please check the Weekend Visits to La Silla page for further details. Check at the following address for the latest details, in particular the next available dates for such visits: visits@eso.org. Prior registration is always necessary.

Public Visits to ALMA

Unfortunately no public visits to ALMA will be offered until the end of 2013 where the construction phase finishes.

Visits to ESO Headquarters in Garching, Germany

Media representatives are welcome to visit the ESO Headquarters in Garching near Munich. Please contact the ESO education and Public Outreach Department. in advance to obtain an appointment.
