European ARC Announcements are provided by ESO and the European ALMA Nodes that together make up the European ALMA Regional Centre Network.

Come and visit the ARC Stand at EAS 2022!

During the ongoing EAS 2022 meeting in Valencia, the European ARC Network will have a stand manned by staff from the ESO ARC and different ARC Nodes.

  • Come visit the stand to chat with other ALMA users from the nodes, to learn how the ARC Network can support your science, and to get some memorabilia.
  • Participate in the daily ALMA quiz for the opportunity to win a Lego ALMA antenna.
  • Join us on Friday 1 July in Lunch Session 6 to hear about an ALMA status update, archive developments and science support opportunities provided by the European ARC network.

The ALMA Configuration Schedule for Cycles 9, 10 and 11

A preview of the Cycles 9, 10 and 11 ALMA Configuration Schedule is now available at the following link. This schedule is being released to allow ALMA users to plan their proposal strategy for the next three Cycles.

Cycle 9 Proposal Submission Statistics

A detailed report of the Cycle 9 Proposal Submission Statistics is now available. The report provides a summary of items such as the number of submitted proposals and time requested, subscription rates, and comparisons with the number of hours requested in previous Cycles. The report can be downloaded as a pdf document.

ORP funding available for face-to-face visits

ORP (Opticon Radionet Pilot) funding is available for travel to one of the European ALMA Regional Centre nodes in Europe, for ALMA users who need face-to-face support for their ALMA projects. Users wishing to apply for ORP funding should fill out the form in addition to submitting a Helpdesk ticket that is required to arrange the ARC node visit. Face-to-face visits to ARC nodes can be arranged for assistance with data calibration and analysis, proposal preparation, and archive research projects.

ALMA Science Archive School

The European ARC Network organises an ALMA Science Archive School at the Italian ARC node headquarters in Bologna, on 5-7 October 2022. To register for the meeting please make use of the registration form, that will remain open until July 15th 2022.

Submission of Stage 1 Ranks and reviews of Cycle 9 Proposals

The deadline for submission of the Stage 1 ranks and reviews of the ALMA Cycle 9 proposals is Wednesday, June 1 at 15:00 UTC. If ranks and reviews are not submitted by the Stage 1 review deadline, the proposal for which you are acting as the designated reviewer will be rejected.

ALMA recounts of cosmic conundrums: What do comets tell us about the origin of Earth?
