  • OddEvenColumnEffect 2008-02-03
  • 2008-02-03: The robust fixed pattern noise (= Gaussian fit to histogram) is sensitive to the odd-even column effect in the Hawaii array. The histogram is wider and bi-modal since 2008-02-03.

This plot

This is the trending plot for the ISAAC Hawaii structural noise (fixed pattern noise) QC parameters derived from DARK frames.

QC parameter are derived from post-pipeline Quality Control processes in Garching, hence there are no values from Paranal to be included.

Method: fit the histogram of the MASTER_DARK product by a Gaussian and use the width.

These plots describe:
1. FPN mode = DoubleCorr, quadrant = upper left (UL),
DIT=10sec (RED taken daily via health check),
DIT=5sec (BLUE, acquired as part of the calibration plan to reduce twilight flats) and
DIT=2sec (GREEN, acquired as part of the calibration plan to reduce photometric zeropints) and
any other DIT (BLACK)

2. FPN As Fig.1, but for UR quadrant
5. FPN As Fig.1 but for LL quadrant
6. FPN As Fig.1 but for LR quadrant

3. FPN mode = NonDest, quadrant = upper left (UL),
DIT=10sec (RED taken daily via health check),
DIT=180sec (BLUE, acquired as part of the calibration plan to match science spectra) and
DIT=5sec (GREEN, acquired as part of the calibration plan to match telluric standard stars) and
any other DIT (BLACK)

4. FPN As Fig.1, but for UR quadrant
7. FPN As Fig.1 but for LL quadrant
8. FPN As Fig.1 but for LR quadrant

Find more information about ISAAC DARK frames here.

Other QC parameters related to detector properties (like structural noise, linearity) are trended.

General information

Click on any of the plots to see a close-up version. The latest date is indicated on top of the plot, data points belonging to that date are specially marked.

If configured,

  • statistical averages are indicated by a solid line, and thresholds by broken lines
  • outliers are marked by a red asterisk. They are defined as data points outside the threshold lines
  • "aliens" (= data points outside the plot Y limits) are marked by a red arrow ( or )
  • you can download the data for each parameter set if the 'Data downloads' link shows up
