UVES is the high-resolution spectroscopic facility installed at the Nasmyth B focus of UT2/Kueyen. UVES is fed both directly and via fibres from FLAMES. Find more about the UVES facility here. Find more about the FLAMES facility here.

This section of the the Data Processing and Quality Control web pages covers UVES (a.k.a. UVES-Echelle) and FLAMES/UVES (a.k.a. UVES-MOS) data.

Find the FLAMES/Giraffe section here.

A general description of the FLAMES capabilities is also available.

All Service Mode data from Giraffe pass Data Flow Operations Garching. In the Service Mode packages, raw and processed data from GIRAFFE are distributed. Since April 2005, processed science data are delivered which include flat-fielding and relative fibre transmission correction.

Use the Giraffe archive web page to browse and download Giraffe raw data.

More information on the Giraffe instrument, especially all technical aspects, can be found on the FLAMES web pages. The current Giraffe User's Manual is available here.

Find here information on Giraffe Quality Control, pipeline processing, and Data Flow Operations topics.

Find the FLAMES/Giraffe section FLAMES) can be found on the UVES-MOS pages.

All Service Mode data from UVES & FLAMES/UVES pass Data Flow Operations Garching. Science data for Visitor Mode runs are presently not processed.

NOTE: On 1 April 2004, the format of the red UVES and FLAMES/UVES raw files has been changed: the new format is a fits file with two extensions, one for each detector, i.e. the two red CCD images are now splitted. The format for the blue files has not been changed. Note that the new format cannot be processed with UVES pipelines prior to version 2.1. Newer pipelines are able to handle both the new and the old format. The format of the pipeline products has not been changed.

More information on the UVES instrument, especially all technical aspects, can be found on the UVES web pages. The current UVES User's Manual is available here; infomation on downloading software for data reduction (pipeline) can be found here.
