Resolving the Outflow of the Nearby Massive Young Star MWC297

Abstract:
We propose to use APEX in science verification time to map the outflow of the nearby massive young starMWC 297 in the 12CO J=3-2 line. These observations will allow us to trace the extent, mass and kinetic energy of the material in the outflow, allowing us to construct a detailed history of the accretion onto this embedded source. Combined with exisiting data, these observations will allow us to trace the formation historey of this object, putting stringent constraints on current models for the formation of massive stars.
