Sunrise at Cerro Armazones
The Sun rises behind Cerro Armazones, the future home of the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT). The ELT, with its 39-metre diameter mirror, will be the the world’s biggest eye on the sky.
Cerro Armazones is located in the Chilean desert, near ESO's Paranal Observatory — the site of the Very Large Telescope (VLT).
