Going Supernova

A view of the ESO Supernova Planetarium & Visitor Centre, which is nearing the final stages of construction. It will be completely free to visit, and is already offering a unique range of free planetarium products, as part of its remit as the world's first open-source planetarium. The novel design of this new building resembles that of a close double-star system, with one star transferring mass to its companion — such systems in space ultimately lead to supernova explosions, appropriately enough, given the name of the project! The complex is located in Garching-Forschungszentrum, readily accessible from Munich. This unique and unmissable attraction will be open to the public from spring 2018.
