Paranal–Armazones connected to Chilean power grid
The ESO Director General Tim de Zeeuw visited the ESO Paranal and Armazones sites to commemorate their connection to the Chilean power grid. The demands of the future Extremely Large Telescope (ELT) necessitated the connection, which will also significantly reduce the carbon footprints of the observatories.
