Cerro Armazones
The 3046-metre-high Cerro Armazones, located just some 20 km east of Paranal in the Chilean Atacama Desert. This has been selected as the future site for the Extremely Large Telescope (ELT). With a primary mirror 39 metres in diameter, the ELT will be the world's largest eye on the sky.
