Solargraph at the VLT

"Solargraphy" is a technique which uses a pinhole camera to capture the movements of the Sun in the sky over long periods of time (weeks or even months). This allows one to obtain continuous solar trails, with an unusual artistic effect. This solargraph was taken at the VLT at Paranal. It was exposed for three months from the roof of the VLTI building, pointing north between UT2 and UT3. For more information about this solargraph, please see ESO Messenger 141, p 43 (PDF).
