This image shows a small model (you can get an idea of scale from the foot in the top left) of the future European Extremely Large Telescope (E-ELT). The E-ELT will be built atop Cerro Armazones, in the Chilean Andes. With a primary mirror of 39 metres it will be the largest optical/infrared telescope in the world — the world's biggest eye on the sky.
