Sunset behind the Paranal telescopes

The setting of the Sun precedes another night of observations at ESO's Paranal Observatory in Chile. Paranal is one of the best observing sites in the world; it is home to many telescopes including the Very Large Telescope (VLT). VLT actually consists of four Unit Telescopes (the large ones on the right of this image) which work together to form a giant "interferometer", the ESO Very Large Telescope Interferometer.
