Water supply for the VLT
The Paranal Observatory is at a very remote place in the Atacama desert, one of the driest places on Earth. The next city, Antofagasta, is a one-and-a-half hours car ride away. The water supply for the Observatory is brought by big tanks from Antofagasta regularly. This picture of the water tanks was obtained in December 2004.
