Dark Chilean skies

This fish-eye (fulldome) view from Paranal shows the beauty of the dark Chilean night sky. Each of the four 8.2m Unit Telescopes (UTs) can be seen, which, along with the smaller 1.8 diameter Auxiliary Telescopes can work together, to form a giant ‘interferometer’, the ESO Very Large Telescope Interferometer.
