VLT platform fulldome view
Unit Telescope 4 (Yepun) fires its laser guide star in this colourful fish-eye (fulldome) view from Paranal – home to the Very Large Telescope array (VLT). Astronomers use a technique called adaptive optics to correct in real-time the distortion caused by the turbulence, making the images obtained almost as sharp as those taken in space.
