Halo on Mercury's transit day
On 9 May 2016, Mercury transited the Sun. While ESO staff was enjoying the rare event by observing the Sun with telescopes on the ESO's Headquarters balcony, an halo appeared around the Sun in the sky. The ESO Photo Ambassador Petr Horálek was lucky, and very skilled, to capture the fascinating scene.
